The tourists that come to Istanbul often don’t know that in the Marmara Sea, located at few miles away from the frenetic center of Istanbul, there are some green and quiet islands: ‘The Princes’ Islands’. In this daily tour, take a little break from Istanbul to visit these little treasures.
The tour starts in the mourning, when you will take the ferry that will bring you to ‘Büyükada’, the biggest and most important island of the five. The travel lasts one hour and will give you the chance to see many monuments from a very different perspective...
Once in the island, you will feel in a totally different place than the city center: cobblestoned streets (in car are not allowed), maritime pines and Ottoman villas are the main elements of the island. The common point with the city is the history and the multi-ethnic character of it: from the Orthodox church of Hagia Yorgi to the old houses of the Armenian, Greek and Jude communities that used to populate the island. At the middle of the day, a meal based of fresh fish will wait you at a restaurant near the sea.
The second part of the day will be dedicated to the paython tour and to the visit to the ancient Greek monastery of St. George, located on the top of the hill. Afterwards, you will have a well-deserved tea of coffee at the beautiful garden located on the top of the hill, in front of the Marmara Sea and Istanbul.
